MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery women's tennis team earned a 9-0 victory over Gulf South Conference foe Christian Brothers on Saturday morning at the AUM Tennis Complex, as new head coach Yair Banuelos picked up his first victory as head coach of the Warhawks.
 
NOTES
• AUM improves to 1-0 on the season while CBU falls to 0-1.
• The Warhawks have now opened the season with a victory for the third year in a row.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Freshman Sofia Navarro picked up a No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles victory.
• Senior Alejandra Gil won her No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles matches.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• No. 1 Doubles: The team of Gil and Navarro defeated Tara McElroy and Lauren Woog 8-6.
• No. 2 Doubles:  Alba De la Torre and Julia Enderink defeated Judit Aubets Macia and Meg Mattis 8-3.
• No. 3 Doubles: Tonja Foessmeier and Sofia Mustre defeated Melody Mays and Brittany Weathersby 8-2.
• No. 1 Singles: Navarro defeated Woog, 6-1, 6-2.
• No. 2 Singles: Foessmeier defeated McElroy, 6-2, 6-2.
• No. 3 Singles: Gil defeated Aubets Macia, 6-4, 6-2.
• No. 4 Singles: De La Torre defeated Mattis, 6-4, 6-0.
• No. 5 Singles: Mustre defeated Mays, 6-0, 6-3.
• No. 6 Singles: Enderink defeated Weathersby, 6-4, 6-1.
