Warhawk Tennis Hosts North Alabama In Dual Match

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery men's and women's tennis team will host Gulf South Conference opponent North Alabama on Friday afternoon at the AUM Tennis Complex beginning at 2 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE WARHAWKS
The AUM men's team is ranked No. 22 nationally in the latest Oracle ITA Division II Men's Collegiate Rankings and are No. 7 in the South Region. The Warhawks are 2-2 on the season with a 2-1 mark in GSC play.
 
AUM fell to West Alabama in its last match, 3-6, on the campus of the Tigers on Feb. 23. Freshman Eban Straker-Meads is ranked 50th in the nation and is currently 4-0 on the season in singles play and 3-0 in doubles with teammate Santiago Veglia.
 
The Warhawk women are 3-2 this season and are coming off of a 9-0 victory over GSC foe West Georgia on Tuesday. With the victory AUM improves to 3-1 in league play this year.
 
Freshman Alba De la Torre is 5-0 this season in singles and 3-2 in doubles with partner Julia Enderink. The No. 3 doubles team of Tonja Foessmeier and Sofia Mustre are 4-1 this season, with Foessmeier holding a 4-1 mark at the No. 2 singles spot.
 
Both squads were supposed to play Augusta University on Monday but the dual match was postponed due to inclement weather.
 
ABOUT THE LIONS
The North Alabama men are ranked seventh in the region but are 1-4 on the season. UNA is 0-2 in league play with a 5-4 setback to #1 West Florida on Feb. 18 and a 9-0 loss to #4 Valdosta State this past Saturday.
 
UNA's Miguel Garcia is the reigning GSC Player of the Week after going 2-1 last week. Garcia now stands at 2-3 this year at the No. 1 and 2 singles level. Jason Pimenta leads the team in wins with a record of 3-1 at the top two spots.
 
The Lions' women's team is 2-3 this season and are coming off of a 7-2 victory over #25 Valdosta State on Saturday. UNA is 1-1 in GSC play this year. Donna Haycock and Nele Seitz are both 3-2 in singles play, with Haycock competing at the No. 3 spot and Seitz competing at the No. 4.
 
UP NEXT
AUM will travel to Pensacola, Fla., on Saturday to take on West Florida in a dual match set to begin at 1 p.m. The UWF men are No. 1 in the nation while the Argonaut women are ranked fifth.
