Baseball Treks To Columbus For Wednesday Contest At Columbus State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery baseball team wraps up a four-game road swing on Wednesday, Mar. 7, when the Warhawks take on Columbus State in a nonconference contest at 4 p.m.

About the Warhawks
AUM (6-9, 0-6 GSC) heads into the midweek tilt after an 0-3 weekend at Delta State in a Gulf South Conference series.
 
Offensively, Auburn Montgomery is hitting .258 (122-472) with a .379 slugging percentage off the strength of 23 doubles, two triple and 10 home runs while posting 61 walks and 54 RBI. Sophomore infielder Hayden Friesen leads five Warhawks hitting over .300 with a .440 average, followed by junior infielder Jonathan Brandt, senior infielder Nathan Langley, senior infielder Parker Moman and senior infielder Curtiss Johnson with marks of .396, .382, .355 and .300, respectively. Langley and Brandt tie for the team-lead with 21 hits, eight RBI and six doubles while sophomore catcher Kyle Khoury and Langley both have a triple and Brandt boasts a team-high two home runs. Langley also posts a team-leading 11 walks.
 
On the mound, AUM sports a 5.16 ERA while tallying 78 strikeouts with 44 walks in 122.0 innings of work to date. Redshirt sophomore right-handed pitcher Hank Scott logs a team-high 30.0 innings over five starts, tied with senior right-handed pitcher Garrett Deloney, while also leading the team with 25 strikeouts and two victories. Freshman righty Sam Steigert makes a team-best nine mound appearances with a team-low 1.74 ERA and .103 opposing batting average while joining Langley and junior right-handed hitter Brett Lightsey with one save.
 
In a three-game series against Columbus State last year, which AUM went 1-2 in, Johnson boasted a .455 batting average (5-11) with three RBI.
 
About the Cougars
Columbus State (14-2, 3-0 PBC) begins a five-game homestand riding an eight-game winning streak, most recently sweeping a three-game Peach Belt Conference series at Augusta.
 
The Cougars are hitting .294 (165-561) as a team with a GSC-leading .487 slugging percentage coming from 18 doubles, three triples and 28 home runs while tallying 126 RBI and 94 walks. Turner Vincent leads CSU with a .423 batting average while Justin Evans hits four doubles, Drew Webb has two triples and Frank Wager boasts seven home runs to go with a team-leading 21 runs scored and 15 walks.
 
On the mound, Columbus State has a team ERA of 3.95 with 151 strikeouts and 63 walks in 146.0 innings. Kolton Ingram and T.J. Clark each had made five starts, with Ingram leading the Cougars with 36 strikeouts in 32.0 innings with four victories, a 1.69 ERA and a .173 opposing batting average.
