Baseball Hits The Road For Gulf South Conference Series At No. 23 West Florida

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery baseball team hits the road for a three-game Gulf South Conference series at the University of West Florida, starting on Friday, April 13 in a doubleheader with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. The Warhawks and nationally-ranked Argonauts close the series the with a single game on Saturday at 11 a.m.

About the Warhawks
AUM (16-22, 5-16 GSC) treks to Pensacola, Fla., after besting Albany State 4-2 in the second leg of a home-and-home series on Wednesday, April 11.
 
Offensively, Auburn Montgomery is hitting .254 (294-1156) with a .342 slugging percentage off the strength of 42 doubles, four triple and 17 home runs while tallying 152 walks for a .359 on base percentage and 127 RBI. Senior infielder Nathan Langley leads two Warhawks hitting over .300 with a .388 average, followed by redshirt sophomore infielder Hayden Friesen with a .338 clip.Langley also leads AUM in hits (54), walks (25), RBI (21), stolen bases (13), doubles (13), triples (two) slugging percentage (.554) and on base percentage (.479) while junior infielder Jonathan Brandt hits a team-best four home runs.
 
On the mound, AUM sports a 5.28 ERA while tallying 202 strikeouts with 97 walks in 305.0 innings of work to date. Redshirt sophomore right-handed pitcher Hank Scott logs a team-high 62.0 innings over 10 starts, tied with senior left-handed pitcher Garrett Deloney, to go with a team-leading four victories and 46 strikeouts. Freshman righty Sam Steigert makes a team-high 18 mound with three saves while Langley holds a team-low 1.38 ERA and junior Josh Flowers limits opponents to a .209 average.
 
About the Argonauts
West Florida (25-11, 15-5 GSC), ranked 23 in the most recent Collegiate Baseball poll and receiving votes in the NCBWA poll, hosts AUM after a 2-1 Gulf South Conference series triumph over Lee University, besting the Flames 5-3 and 7-2 in the first two contests before falling 10-2 in the finale.
 
The Argonauts are hitting .319 (383-1201) as a team with a .452 slugging percentage coming from 72 doubles, eight triples and 24 home runs while tallying 235 RBI and 134 walks. Matthew Jones leads UWF with a .366 average while Matt Sullivan hits 14 doubles, Nic Strasser boasts two triples with seven home runs and Nick Kerckmann records a team-leading 35 RBI.
 
On the mound, West Florida has a team ERA of 3.74 with 269 strikeouts and 125 walks in 298.0 innings. Tony Kucera logs a team-leading 49.2 with four victories, tied with Dylan Mills-Derouen who tosses a team-high 49 batters. Alex Knight holds a team-best 0.57 ERA over 13 mound appearances with two saves, matching Whitt Davis for the team lead.
