Baseball Hosts Christian Brothers In Final Home Series Of Season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery baseball team concludes the home portion of their 2018 schedule this weekend with a three-game Gulf South Conference series against Christian Brothers University. First pitch for the series opener is scheduled for Friday, April 20 at 6 p.m., with a doubleheader the following day starting at 2 p.m. Prior to Saturday's twinbill, AUM will honor the 2018 senior class of Donovan Chandler, Garrett Deloney, Curtiss Johnson, Nathan Langley, Parker Moman, Tanner Russell and Forrest Smith.

About the Warhawks
AUM (17-26, 6-18 GSC) continues its home-schedule ending four-game homestand after a 16-1 setback against nationally-ranked Columbus State on Wednesday, April 18.
 
Offensively, Auburn Montgomery is hitting .250 (326-1302) with a .331 slugging percentage off the strength of 46 doubles, four triple and 17 home runs while tallying 179 walks for a .360 on base percentage and 144 RBI. Langley leads three Warhawks hitting over .300 with a .368 average, followed by redshirt junior infielder Hayden Friesen and junior infielder Logan Nix with marks of .305 and .304, respectively. Langley also leads AUM in hits (57), runs scored (32), walks (30), RBI (21), stolen bases (14), doubles (13), triples (two) slugging percentage (.516) and on base percentage (.468) while junior infielder Jonathan Brandt hits a team-best four home runs.
 
On the mound, AUM sports a 5.64 ERA while tallying 223 strikeouts with 126 walks in 343.0 innings of work to date. Redshirt sophomore right-handed pitcher Hank Scott logs a team-best 67.2 innings on the mound over 12 starts with four victories and 50 strikeouts, tied with southpaw Deloney for the team lead. Freshman righty Sam Steigert making a team-high 19 mound appearances with three saves while Langley holds a team-low 1.42 ERA and junior right-handing Josh Flowers limits opponents to a .210 batting average.
 
About the Bucs
Christian Brothers (10-32, 4-20 GSC) makes the trip to Montgomery after suffering an 8-5 loss to Freed-Hardeman on Wednesday, April 18.
 
The Bucs are hitting .227 (287-1262) as a team with a .296 slugging percentage coming from 43 doubles, eight triples and nine home runs while tallying 144 RBI and 134 walks. Jeff Goodwin leads CBU with a .296 batting average and 20 runs scored while Jaime Soto hits seven doubles plus two triples and Parker Jordan boasts five home runs. Soto records a team-leading 24 RBI while matching Nick Traylor with 17 walks with Goodwin stealing a team-best nine bases.
 
On the mound, Christian Brothers has a team ERA of 7.44 with 269 strikeouts and 182 walks in 331.1 innings. Peyton Sanderlin holds a team-best 3.65 ERA while leading the team with 79.0 innings, 63 strikeouts and four victories. Will Rutledge makes a team-high 13 starts while Blake Dallas logs 18 appearances with Gil Erwin recording two saves.
