Baseball to Host West Florida in Weekend GSC Series

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Auburn Montgomery baseball team will welcome the Argonauts of the University of West Florida to the AUM Baseball Complex for a three game Gulf-South-Conference series this weekend, beginning with a single game on Saturday, Feb. 23 and concluding with a doubleheader on Sunday, Feb. 24

About the Warhawks 
AUM (7-4, 2-1 GSC) heads into the weekend having took two of three games from GSC-foe West Alabama in their most recent series last week. The Warhawk fell 5-1 in game one, won game two 5-4 and collected an NCAA-era record 22 hits en route to a 14-9 rubber-match win to claim the series on Saturday, Feb. 16.
 
At the plate, junior transfer Dalton Cobb leads AUM with 14 base hits and five doubles, while Matthew Zielonko's six extra base hits and 21 total bases both serve as the team high. Sage Smelley leads the Orange and Black with 11 runs driven in, while Quinterrious Arrington paces the Warhawks with nine runs scored, six stolen bases and 10 base on balls.
 
On the mound for AUM, Sam Steigert has compiled a team-best two wins, while Todd Burkett and Micah Henderson have both accounted for a win and a save on the hill. M. Henderson has logged a season-high 16.2 innings of work in 2019, while Troy Jones has struck out a team-best nine batters.
 
Keegan Fairley has served as one of the most reliable options out of the bullpen for AUM early in the year, registering one win, while posting a WHIP of 0.20 and holding opponents to a 0.67 batting average. 
 
AUM brings an all-time record of 22-24 into their series with UWF. The Argos took two of three games from the Warhawks in Pensacola, Fla. in their most recent series in 2018.
 
About the Argos
West Florida (6-5, 3-0 GSC) split a quick two-game set with Nova Southeastern on Monday and Tuesday of this week, while sweeping Christian Brothers last weekend to open up GSC play. The Argos checked in at number nine in the most recent South Regional Rankings compiled by the NCBWA.
 
Matthew Estrada leads West Florida at the dish with a .457 batting average, while also leading the team with 16 base knocks, two home runs and nine runs driven in. Bryant Harris Jr. has also logged a pair of big flies for UWF, while Trevor Payne also having driven in nine runs on the year.
 
Tony Kucera leads the West Florida pitching staff with two wins, while Toni Russi has worked a team-high 16.1 innings on the bump. Josh Pahlad leads the Argos with two saves, while Daniel Floyd and Dylan Mills-Derouen, who's boasts a team-low 0.00 ERA, have made a team-high five appearances in relief.
