Baseball to Host Miles College on Tuesday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery baseball team will welcome the Miles College Golden Bears to the AUM Baseball Complex on Tuesday, February 5 for a 2:00 p.m. midweek matchup.

About the Warhawks
AUM (2-1) enters their second week of the 2019 season coming off of a series victory over Talladega College to open up the campaign. AUM took games one and three of the series, and fell in game number two. 
 
Through three games, the Warhawks sport a team batting average of .279. Dalton Cobb, Casey Henderson and Sage Smelley all lead the way offensively with three hits apiece so far, with Cobb posting a team-best three runs batted over the course of last weekend and Smelley driving in two. 
 
Quinterrious Arrington and Zach Feaster both scored a team-best two runs over the weekend. Arrington also recorded a team-high two stolen bases and three walks. 
 
On the mound, AUM boasts a team earned run average of 1.96. Sam Steigert and Troy Jones both picked up wins on bump for the Warhawks, while Todd Burkett picked up a save in game one of last weekend's series with the Tornadoes. 
 
The AUM staff surrendered just five walks over the course of last weekend, with the bullpen allowing just one base on balls and zero earned runs in their three-game set with the Tornadoes. 
 
Tuesday's meeting with Miles College will serve as the inaugural matchup between the two. 
 
About the Golden Bears
Miles College (2-0) is coming off of a two-game series sweep against Morehouse College on Friday, Feb. 1 their last time out. The Golden Bears pounded out 25 runs over the two-game set, including an 18-8 win in game two.
 
Will Cantey drove in a team-high nine runs over the weekend, with four hits in six at-bats four the Golden Bears. Destin Davidson also collected four hits, while Jacob Bisharat drove in five runs and Alex Bentley and Davidson scored five runs apiece. 
 
On the hill, Jacob Schuster and Andrew Datcher both logged victories for Miles over the weekend, with Schuster striking out a team-high eight batters over 5.1 frames. Zavian Caldwell poses as one of the top potential threats out of the Golden Bear's Bullpen, with five strikeouts over 1.2 innings of action. 
 
Miles College posted a record of 32-19 in 2018, including a mark of 19-1 in SIAC contests, and a 15-3 home record.
