About the Warhawks
AUM (15-14, 7-8 GSC) heads into their upcoming slate of contests having dropped two of three games to Mississippi College in Gulf South Conference play their last time out on March 22-23.
The Warhawks gave up just two runs to the Choctaws in the final game of the series, to help clinch a 4-2 win in the series finale over MC on Saturday March 23. Senior hurler
Brett Lightsey scattered just two earned over a season-high five innings, while
Harrison Morris allowed just one base runner over the final two frames to pick up his first save of the season.
Matthew Zielonko leads AUM at the plate, while unofficially ranking among the top 10 performers in the GSC, with 28 runs batted in and five home runs. The junior outfielder also leads the Warhawks with 11 multi-RBI games, while his .313 batting average ranks for second on the squad and marks for one of four Warhawks hitting above the .300 mark for the season.
Dalton Cobb's .320 bating average leads a Warhawk team hitting .273 on the season, while his 33 base hits and nine doubles both also lead the Orange and Black.
Jonathan Brandt (.309) and
Zach Feaster (.306) both also hold batting averages above the .300 mark.
Quinterrious Arrington continues to unofficially pace the conference with 22 stolen bases, while ranking in the top five in the Gulf South with 21 walks. The junior outfielder also leads the Warhawks with 25 runs scored, a .444 on base-clip and 11 multi-hit games.
Todd Burkett headlines a group of six pitchers for the Warhawks that have notched two wins on the season. In a team-high 13 appearances, T. Burkett is holding opponents to a miniscule .179 batting average, while having struck out 18 batters and notched four saves for AUM.

Sam Steigert,
Keegan Fairley, and Lightsey all have also tallied a pair of wins on the mound for the Warhawks. Jones leads the Warhawks with 42.1 innings pitched and 40 strikeouts, while relievers Morris (0.00) and Fairley (0.69) both hold an earned run average under one.
AUM holds an all-time series advantage of 36-28 over Georgia Southwestern, including a 7-3 win in their last meeting on Tuesday, March 19 earlier in the season. The Warhawks have won their last three matchups with the Hurricanes, and five of their last six dating back to the 2017 season.
The Warhawks took two of three games against Valdosta State in their most recent series in 2018, and will look to improve on their 2-3 all-time record against the Blazers in their brief history.
