MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery softball team dropped a pair of games to Gulf South Conference foe the University of West Georgia on Saturday afternoon, falling 4-2 in game one before dropping game two 2-1, as the visiting Wolves swept the doubleheader to win the series 2-1 on the road.
NOTES
- AUM falls to 35-11 on the season with a 15-9 mark in the GSC.
- UWG improves to 23-23 with a 9-15 record in league games.
- The two teams are now tied at 3-3 lifetime.
- The games today mark only the second time this season that the Orange & Black have dropped two contests in a row.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Freshman
Brooke Perrigin was 3-for-4 at the plate with a double for the Warhawks.
- Senior
Natalie Johnsey took the loss in game one but allowed only two runs (one earned) on four hits with six strikeouts in four innings of work.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
- UWG struck first in the contest, plating a run in the top of the third. With two outs and runners at second and third Raven Smith hit a base knock to left to give her squad a 1-0 advantage.

Morgan Duschell would tie things up in the bottom of the third, driving in
Olivia Aycock who had doubled to left and then reached third on a passed ball. Duschell slapped a single to center to plate Aycock and tie the contest a one run apiece.
- The Wolves added one more in the top of the fifth, scoring on a wild pitch to go up 2-1.
- Smith would strike again in the top of the sixth for UWG, coming to the plate with the bases loaded and delivering a two-RBI single to right to put the Wolves up 4-1.

Michaelyn Foster led off the bottom of the sixth with a solo home run to left to cut the deficit in half at 4-2.
- AUM would not be able to keep up the momentum, falling 4-2 in seven.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE – GAME ONE
- The Warhawks scored two runs on four hits while committing three errors.
- The Wolves scored four runs on six hits with one error.
- Johnsey fell to 4-2 on the season with the loss
- UWG's Morgan Goree improved to 4-8 on the year after allowing only two runs on four hits with three walks and seven K's.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
- In a game where runs were at a premium, UWG scored first. The Wolves went up 1-0 in the top of the first when Mallory Walker singled to left to drive in Hannah Scarbrough from second to give the visitors the lead once again.
- An error by the AUM infield in the top of the third allowed one more run to score, as Walker doubled with one out and then came around to score on the Warhawk miscue.
- In the bottom of the seventh with the Warhawks down to their final out,
Jaycie Walker tripled to center with a runner at first to put the Orange & Black on the board and give the home faithful some hope. However, AUM would be unable to get Walker home as UWG took the game and the series 2-1.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE – GAME TWO
- AUM scored one run on five hits with one error.
- UWG scored two runs on four hits and no errors.

Chanel Newcomer was credited with the loss to fall to 8-3 on the year. Newcomer allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits with two walks and one strikeout.
- Raya Moncus improved to 6-6 on the season for the Wolves, allowing only one run on five hits with two walks and six K's.
