49 Warhawks Named 2018-19 D2 ADA Academic Achievement Recipients

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Division 2 Athletic Directors Association announced its 2018-19 recipients of the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards on Monday, Aug. 26, with 49 student athletes from Auburn University at Montgomery being named honorees.   
 
Softball provided an institution-high 12 student athletes to the honoree list, followed by baseball with 11 and men's soccer with seven. Volleyball saw six student athletes honored, while women's soccer saw five, women's tennis saw four, women's basketball saw two and men's tennis and women's cross country each saw one student athlete honored. 
 
In total, 390 student athletes from the Gulf South Conference were honored, with AUM posting the fifth-highest total number of honorees. 
 
In order to qualify, student athletes must possess a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, while also having attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college-level work and have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his or her last academic year.

In total, there were 11,660 student-athletes from 185 institutions being recognized for the 2018-19 Academic Achievement Awards. This set the record for the most participation from institutions and the largest number of student-athletes being nominated. This year, the association has the most student-athletes being honored from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), with 975, closely followed by the Northeast-10 Conference (NE10) with 974 and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) with 791.
