Baseball Set for Unveiling of “Q.V. Lowe Field” at Opening Home Weekend Series

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Auburn Montgomery baseball team will play host to Christian Brothers University for a three-game Gulf South Conference series this weekend, while officially unveiling "Q.V. Lowe Field" at the AUM Baseball Complex before the series kicks off on Saturday, Feb. 15.
 
The unveiling of "Q.V. Lowe Field" at the AUM Baseball Complex will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, 30 minutes before the first pitch of the doubleheader with the Buccaneers. Coach Lowe will also be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch of the series. 
 
Lowe posted a record of 1,063-588-5 during his time at the helm of the AUM baseball program from 1987-2014, including 21 seasons with 30 or more wins and 13 years with more than 40 victories. He led AUM to three trips to the NAIA World Series finals and won six conference championships. The Warhawks suffered just two losing seasons, his first two years, during his time at the helm.

ABOUT THE WARHAWKS
AUM (1-6) comes into the weekend having knocked off Embry-Riddle 9-6 for their first official victory as full-fledged members of NCAA Division II their last time out on Sunday, Feb. 9 in Daytona Beach. Matthew Zielonko drove in a game-high five runs on four hits while starting pitcher Micah Henderson (1-0) tossed six innings en route to the win.
 
The Warhawks come into the weekend batting .247 as a team, led by Dalton Cobb's .360 batting average. Cobb leads the Warhawks and ranks second in the GSC with nine base hits, while additionally leading the Warhawks with six runs batted in, six runs scored, two home runs and four stolen bases. 
 
Zielonko leads the Orange and Black while ranking third in the GSC with three doubles. The senior right fielder also leads AUM with six RBI and sits second on the squad with eight base hits. 
 
On the mound, M. Henderson has tossed a team-high 12 innings of work on the season, a mark that also ranks for third-best in the GSC. The senior right-hander's one walk allowed ranks for first among qualified pitchers in the GSC. 
 
Logan Coleman and Sam Steigert both lead AUM with a team-high four appearances on the year, with Coleman leading the Orange and Black with seven strikeouts. Senior reliever Hunter Hillyer has yet to allow a run for the Warhawks over five innings pitched and is holding opponents to a microscopic .063 batting average. 
 
The Warhawks sport an all-time series record of 4-1 against Christian Brothers in their brief history.
 
ABOUT THE BUCCANEERS
Christian Brothers heads into their meeting with AUM having won their last two games. The Bucs took both games of a Sunday doubleheader against Miles College on Sunday, Feb. 9 in Birmingham, Ala. 
 
As a team, the Bucs are batting .246, led by two players batting .300 or better. Larry Hubbard leads CBU and ranks 10th in the conference with a .450 average, while Jaime Soto ranks second on the team with an average of .300.
 
The Bucs ranks third in the conference with 17 stolen bases so far on the year. Keagan Voss ranks second in the Gulf South with six steals, while Ben Brocato ranks tied for fourth with four steals on the year.
 
Blake Dallas's 14.2 innings tossed leads the Buccaneers and rank for second in the conference, all while holding opposing hitters to a .200 batting average. Jonathan Baldelli has tossed the lone complete game for CBU this season, while his nine strikeouts lead the Bucs.
