Sommer Rhea, six volleyball players have been named to the AUM Volleyball all-decade team.
AUM Volleyball started its program in 2017 and has quickly gained attention throughout the Gulf South Conference as one of the rising programs in the GSC. Last season under head coach
Flavia Siqueira, the Orange & Black made their first GSC postseason appearance and
captured its first playoff victory with a 3-1 win over Valdosta State in the opening round.
After a stellar two-year career, Rhea (2018-19) has been tabbed as the Player of the Decade. The outside hitter netted a top spot in the record books in nearly every offensive category. She finished her career with 540 kills, 593 points, 603 digs, 3.02 kills per set and 3.31 kills per set.
Rhea also earned a place on the GSC's second-team, CoSIDA's Academic All-America team and was a finalist for the Gulf South Conference's Commissioner's Trophy in 2020.
Carla Butler lands on the all-decade team for her efforts as libero in 2019. Despite only playing one season in the 2010s, Butler has landed on top of a few statistical records at AUM. The New Zealand native is the single-season leader in digs (544) and digs per set (4.46).
Nyah Whittlesey (2018-pres) will join Rhea as an outside hitter on the all-decade squad. The Columbus, Ga., native has compiled 373 kills in her career with 19 service aces and 269 digs. Whittlesey ranks fourth all-time in kills, fifth in kills per set and fourth all-time in points.
Brianna Garvin, a member of the original AUM volleyball team in 2017, has been slotted in at middle blocker. Garvin totaled 469 kills in two seasons wearing the Orange & Black and amassed 173 blocks which ranks first in program history.
Jaylyn Felder (2017-19) played three seasons for the Warhawks and was a pivotal contributor to AUM's success in 2019. Felder was a dual threat in the middle for the Orange & Black. Felder ranks second in kills (476) and blocks (141) in program history and has played the most sets than any other Warhawk with 317.
Isadora Nicolai played her first season as a Warhawk in 2019 and made an immediate impact on her team. The best setter in AUM history, Nicolai finished with 1,977 assists which ranks second in program history. The Brazil native also recorded a single season record 48 service aces in 2019.
