MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Auburn University at Montgomery women's cross country runner Kenlie Nelson has been named Warhawk of the Week after she turned in a Second Team All-Gulf South Conference finish at the GSC Championships.
Nelson covered the 5K course in a time of 19:12.70, which placed her 17th overall in a field of 97 total runners.
The Guntersville, Ala. native, had a memorable morning at the University of Montevallo cross country course. She became the first AUM runner in the NCAA Division II era to earn All-GSC honors, and she registered another Top-10 5K time for the AUM record books.
Her time was also three-tenths of a second off of her season best and missed out on the conference's Freshman of the Year award by just two seconds.
Nelson helped lead the Warhawks to the squad's highest team-finish (fourth place) in the NCAA Division II era.
The Warhawk of the Week award is a weekly honor on
AUMathletics.com that is presented to one male or female student-athlete for their athletic achievements from the previous week.
