Tuskegee, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery Baseball team fell 7-6 to the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University in nonconference action on Tuesday, March 29, dropping to 18-13 on the season.
The Golden Tigers cracked the scoreboard first in the contest with a four-run third inning. An RBI single, followed by a sacrifice fly, an RBI bunt base hit, and an RBI walk accounted for the damage in the inning.
AUM tallied the game's next four runs, beginning with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth on a two-run homer to left field by
Micah Christian.
Brook Brannon led off the inning by reaching base via an error.
The Warhawks' next two runs came on a two-RBI knock from
Jackson Ceman that plated
Jordan Moore and Christian. Christian logged a leadoff hit batsman, followed by a Moore walk and a bunt base hit by
Caleb Beaver to set the stage for Ceman.
After conceding the game's next two runs to the Golden Tigers on a two-RBI single in the seventh, AUM was able to get a run back in both the eighth and ninth innings to tie the contest. A Ceman RBI single in the right center made the score 6-5 in the eighth while a Brannon knock to right center in the top of the ninth knotted up the contest at 6-6.
Tuskegee started off the ninth inning by reaching base via walk, followed by a sacrifice bunt and a strikeout. An infield hit and hit by pitch loaded up the bases for the Golden Tigers and was followed by a walk-off single up the middle to give way to the 7-6 final score.
The Warhawks will be back in action on Friday, April 1 when they host West Alabama for the first of three Gulf South Conference contests. Start time from Q.V. Lowe Field is set for 6:00 p.m.
