MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Mississippi College, receiving votes in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association Top 25 poll, clubbed five doubles as part of a six-run first inning to set the ton for a 13-2 win over Auburn University at Montgomery in the series opener of a three-game Gulf South Conference weekend.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Mississippi College scored five runs on six hits in the first inning, including five doubles, to jump out in front 5-0 after a half-inning of action.
- Kasey Clark smashed a solo home run to right to put the Warhawks on the board after two frames.Â
- The Choctaws added a run in the third and a run in the fourth before breaking the game open in the sixth.Â
- MC led off the inning with a solo home run and then promptly loaded the bases before a two-out throwing error cleared the bases and helped lead to a five-run frame.
- Cooper Doughman tallied an RBI double to left in the fourth to plate Zach Dew for the Warhawks.Â
ON THE MOUNDÂ
- Clay Slagle (1-2) was struck with the loss and struck out a pair of hitters in four innings.Â
- Carson Beach allowed a pair of earned runs in 1.1 innings with a pair of strikeouts.
- Michael Myers finished the game allowing a hit and a walk with two strikeouts in 1.2 innings of relief.Â
NOTABLES
- Doughman added his team-leading 10th RBI of the season.Â
- Clark's homer marked his second of the year and the sixth of the season for the black and orange.Â
- Dew (1-for-3) and Jarren Wright (1-for-2) added the other two hits for the Warhawks.
- MC upped their NCAA Division II-leading home run to 25 on the year with a pair of solo blasts.

- "Was disappointed in our effort and the way we attacked the game tonight," said head coach Franklin Bush. " We can control our energy, intent, effort, and focus, and it wasn't at a championship level tonight. We have to be consistent in our approach to the game. We will look to get back to that tomorrow."
