Warhawks Sweep Christian Brothers, Run Win Streak to Nine Games

Doughman ties AUM's single-game RBI record

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Jarren Wright drove in five runs in game one of a doubleheader, Cooper Doughman added a pair of grand slam home runs and nine RBIs in the back half of the twin bill, and the Auburn University at Montgomery baseball team swept Christian Brothers University to secure its sixth series win in Gulf South Conference play.

Doughman's nine runs driven in to finish off the series sweep tied AUM Hall of Famer Frank "Pookie" Wilson for the most in a single game in AUM history.

GM 1 HIGHLIGHTS
  • Jarren Wright hit a solo homer in the second and JC Tunnell added a two-RBI double to help AUM open up a 3-0 lead.
  • Wright single home two more in the third, and Zach Dew smacked a two-run home run in the fifth as the Warhawks jumped in front 7-3.
  • Wright added two more RBIs on a ninth-inning double to help AUM add on in the ninth. RH Frankland's sacrifice fly and Tyrese Rooks' two-run single helped AUM wrap up a 12-4 win.
GM 1 ON THE MOUND 
  • Clay Slagle (5-2) picked up the win for the Warhawks. He allowed three runs and did not walk a batter against five strikeouts in five innings. 
  • Brett Pitts worked four innings of relief and picked up a save. He allowed one run on five hits with three strikeouts in four innings. 
GM 2 HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Warhawks sent 13 men to the plate in the top of the first inning and scored 10 runs, capped off by a Cooper Doughman grand slam home run.
  • Frankland cleared the bases with a double in the third inning and AUM led 16-9 after four innings.
  • Tunnell's RBI single in the fifth frame, plus Kasey Clark's three-run home run, helped AUM to a 20-9 lead.
  • Doughman added his second grand slam of the game in the sixth inning as the Warhawks secured the series sweep.
GM 2 ON THE MOUND 
  • Payte Williams (3-3) worked four innings and picked up the win. He walked a pair of Bucs and struck out two.
  • Grant Hickman allowed a pair of runs in one inning of relief.
  • Michal Myers fired two shutout innings with a strikeout to close out the contest.
NOTABLES
  • Doughman's nine RBIs tie Pookie Wilson for the most in a single game in AUM history.
  • Slagle picked up his fourth consecutive win on the bump and turned in his third start of the campaign without issuing a walk.
  • Myers turned in his seventh scoreless appearance out of the bullpen in game two.
  • Rooks picked up his 16th multi-hit game of the season in game three of the series. Doughman recorded multiple hits in all three games of the series, giving him 10 such efforts this year.
  • Dew (12) and Jackson Ceman (10) also notched double-digit multiple-hit games.
  • Doughman, Clark, and Dew are all tied for the team lead with seven multiple-RBI games.
  • AUM's 24 runs in game three are the most since scoring 22 against Talladega College in 2022.
  • The game marked the ninth win in a row for the Warhawks, their longest win streak of the season.
