AUM Announces First Three Women's Golf Signees

The trio will help usher in the program beginning this Fall

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – AUM women's golf coach Hailey Minor has announced the first three signees in program history.

Aubrie Medford, Ashley Nelson and Kyleigh Gibson will join the first-year program in the fall when Warhawks debut on the links as the school's 12th intercollegiate sport.

"I am very excited to have Aubrie, Ashley and Kyleigh join our inaugural program here at AUM," Minor said. "All three of these young ladies will bring a tremendous amount of talent and hard work to our program."

Medford has been a standout at Shelton State in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for the past two seasons. She is from Chester, Illinois and played at Chester High School. She was the first-ever signee at Shelton State as well. She currently has an 84.3 stroke average, down four shots from a year ago. In high school, she earned all-conference honors in the Cahokia Conference Illinois Division and was part of the 2022 All-South Girls Golf Team.

"Aubrie was our first commit which is not new territory for her," Minor said. "Shelton State benefitted from her decision (to be their first-ever signee) and so will AUM. Her decision shows her tenacity and drive to be successful."

Nelson is a sophomore at Snead State where she has played at the top of the Parson lineup for the past two seasons. She has a 79.3 stroke average across 12 rounds this season seven rounds in the 70s. The Lake City, Florida product also has four top 10 finishes in six events. As a freshman in 2023-24, she had six top 10s in 11 tournaments. She prepped at Columbia High School where she helped her team to a sixth place finish in the 2022 FHSAA Class 3A State Championship.

"Ashely is a very talented player who brings a high work ethic and drive to our program."

Gibson is in her first season at Snead State and has an 87.3 stroke average over 12 rounds. She played high school golf at Smiths Station (Alabama) HS and finished fifth in the AHSAA Class 7A Section 2 Sub-State Tournament. She also competed on the Alabama-NW Florida PGA Junior Tour.

"Kyleigh is a very hard worker who has a strong work ethic and willingness to get better every day.

"I am excited and ready to see these ladies to be a part of our program this fall! They are making history and will certainly be a foundation upon which we build."
