Nagisa Yonezawa named GSC Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Freshman Nagisa Yonezawa of the Auburn University at Montgomery women's tennis team was named the Gulf South Conference (GSC) Women's Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference office Wednesday morning.

Yonezawa made an immediate impact in her season debut as the Warhawks opened the spring season at home against Columbus State. Partnering with Melissa Yakup Pour at the No. 1 doubles position, the freshman duo earned a decisive 6–0 victory, giving AUM an early win in doubles play. Yonezawa also competed at the No. 5 singles spot, where she battled through two competitive sets in her first singles match of the season.

The freshman continued to see action the following day against Nova Southeastern in a neutral-site matchup. Competing at the No. 4 singles position, Yonezawa was locked in a competitive contest before the match was left unfinished due to a team decision.
