Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Auburn University at Montgomery women's tennis team (2-3; GSC: 1-0) opened Gulf South Conference (GSC) play with a 6–1 road victory over the Christian Brothers Lady Buccaneers (1-5; GSC: 0-2) on Friday afternoon in Memphis. The match marked AUM's first GSC contest of the season, as the Warhawks secured the conference-opening win away from home.
Doubles
Doubles play began at the No. 3 position, where Sofia Neri and Ana Clara Campigotto were awarded a victory by default due to lineup limitations from Christian Brothers. The next result came at No. 2 doubles, as Mercedes Garcia Cid and Allison Blanco earned a decisive 6–2 win over Neha Dandu and Fernanda Garcia Galvez.
The final doubles match concluded at the No. 1 spot, where Melissa Yakup Pour and Nagisa Yonezawa fell in a tightly contested 7–5 decision to Valerie Neumann and Raheen Taranum. AUM secured the doubles point with two wins to take a 1–0 lead into singles play.
Singles
Singles action opened at the No. 4 position, where Ana Clara Campigotto earned a 6–1, 6–2 victory over Neha Dandu. Shortly after, Sofia Neri followed with a 6–1, 6–2 win against Raheen Taranum at the No. 2 spot.
At the top of the lineup, Melissa Yakup Pour added another point with a 7–5, 6–1 victory over Valerie Neumann at No. 1. The lone contested setback came at No. 3, where Nagisa Yonezawa battled in a tightly fought three-set match before falling 5–7, 6–4, (12–10) to Fernanda Garcia Galvez.
At the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, Allison Blanco and Valeria Garcia Chavez were each awarded wins by default, sealing the 6–1 conference-opening victory for the Warhawks.
