MONTGOMERY, Ala. – For the second time this season, sophomore pitcher Reese Cauley of the Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks softball team has been named the Gulf South Conference Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league's office on Tuesday morning.
 
REESE'S REMARKABLE RUN
Cauley logged 21.1 innings across three appearances last week for the Warhawks. On Wednesday, she delivered 7.1 innings to lead AUM to a 1-0, eight-inning victory over the Columbus State Cougars, holding the opposition scoreless while striking out seven.
 
Over the weekend, the sophomore added two complete-game performances against UAH, helping the orange and black secure another GSC series sweep. In game one, she allowed just two hits with no earned runs while striking out nine. She followed that with another complete game in the series finale, surrendering only three hits, no earned runs, and recording four strikeouts with just one walk.
 
The Alabama native finished the week 3-0, allowing just 12 hits over 21.1 innings without conceding an earned run. She struck out 20 and walked only seven, earning her second Gulf South Conference Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
 
CAULEY'S CONSISTANT COMMAND
Cauley has been one of the top arms in the Gulf South Conference this season, leading the league with a 1.44 ERA while holding opponents to a .188 batting average, the second-best mark in the conference. She ranks second in innings pitched with 107.0 and sits third in strikeouts with 92, while also tying for the league lead with 16 wins.
 
The sophomore owns a 16-1 record in the circle, adding 13 complete games and five shutouts to her resume. She has limited opposing offenses all season, allowing just 22 earned runs on 73 hits across 388 batters faced, while also ranking second in the conference in fewest runs allowed with 25.


 
UP NEXT
Cauley and the Warhawks return to the AUM Softball Complex this weekend for a GSC series against West Florida. Friday's doubleheader is set to begin with a 4 p.m. first pitch.
