McKree’s Brace Lifts Warhawks Over Saint Leo

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Behind a pair of goals from senior forward Jaden McKree, the Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks men's soccer team (1-0-0) opened the 2026 season with a 2-0 victory over the Saint Leo Lions (0-1-0) Thursday night at the AUM Soccer Stadium.

COACH THORNE'S COMMENTS
"Delighted with our lads. Our squad depth was really needed tonight against a top regional team. They battled until the last second and scoring late shows that. Clean sheet and 2 goals is a great start."

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half
The Warhawks got off to a strong start, recording six first-half shots while controlling the majority of possession. In the 38th minute, Brennan Greer sent a cross into the box, setting up McKree for a strong header that found the back of the net and gave AUM a 1-0 lead.

Second Half
The second half saw the Lions control more of the possession while recording eight shots. However, goalkeeper Jakob Buhrkuhl kept Saint Leo off the scoreboard with three saves to preserve the Warhawks' lead.

With less than five seconds remaining in regulation, McKree added his second goal of the night with a solid finish to seal the 2-0 victory for the Warhawks.

AUM finished the night with 13 shots, including five on target, while Buhrkuhl recorded five saves en route to the clean sheet.

The Warhawks opened the season in impressive fashion, earning a shutout victory behind a pair of goals from McKree.
