BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Following a strong week on the road, AUM women's soccer freshman forward Eva Hendriks has been named the Gulf South Conference Player and Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.Â
Hendriks helped the Warhawks remain unbeaten on the road, playing all 180 minutes across matches at Tuskegee and Georgia Southwestern. AUM opened the weekend with a 0-0 draw against the Golden Tigers before earning a 2-1 victory over the Hurricanes in Americus, Georgia.Â
Against Georgia Southwestern, Hendriks recorded two goals, scoring both of AUM's goals in the victory, including the game-winning goal. Â
Hendriks was also a consistent offensive presence in the scoreless draw at Tuskegee, recording a team-high seven shots on goal while creating multiple scoring opportunities throughout the match.Â
She finished the weekend with two goals, four points, 13 shots and nine shots on goal, averaging 6.5 shots and 2.0 points per game. Through four matches, Hendriks has recorded four goals, one assist and nine points, while scoring in three of the four matches so far this season. Â
The weekly honors mark Hendriks' second GSC Freshman of the Week award and first Player of the Week honor of her collegiate career.Â
