MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Auburn Montgomery sophomore men's soccer player Tiuri Schieving was named the second AUM Army ROTC Athletic Achievement Award recipient of the fall semester, it was announced Monday afternoon.

This award is presented to a student-athlete certified for eligibility and involved in a varsity sport that contributes to their team's success through their individual leadership skills, their commitment to teamwork, their extra effort during practice and their demonstration of sportsmanship.  Additional contributing factors include academic success, character and exemplary community outreach, as well as athletics performance during the previous two weeks.

Schieving, a forward from Groningen, Holland, emerged as the Warhawks' top offensive option during the past two weeks, scoring three goals over four matches. Against Shorter on Sunday, Oct. 15, Schieving scored two goals to lead the Warhawks past the Hawks 4-2.

Off the pitch, Schieving and his teammates have helped gather supplies for the Montgomery Humane Society and have worked at soccer clinics on campus. He has also found success in the classroom, currently sporting a 3.25 GPA.

"I'm very proud of Tiuri," head men's soccer coach Wulf Koch said. "It is well deserved after the way he has been playing lately. He is a hard worker and elevates the play of everyone around him."

The men's soccer team returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 26 at West Florida with a 6 p.m. start time.
