Baseball Concludes 2018 Season With Gulf South Conference Series At West Georgia

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery baseball team plays its final contests of the 2018 season in a three-game Gulf South Conference series at the University of West Georgia, starting on Friday, April 27 at 4 p.m. with a doubleheader the following day beginning at 1 p.m.

About the Warhawks

AUM (20-27, 9-18 GSC) continues the final week of the campaign after a 7-1 setback at North Georgia on Wednesday, April 25.


Offensively, Auburn Montgomery is hitting .254 (361-1422) with a .335 slugging percentage off the strength of 51 doubles, five triple and 18 home runs while tallying 199 walks for a .365 on base percentage and 161 RBI. Senior infielder Nathan Langley leads two Warhawks hitting over .300 with a .381 average, followed by redshirt sophomore infielder Hayden Friesen with a mark of .318. Langley also leads AUM in hits (64), runs scored (34), walks (32), RBI (24), stolen bases (15), doubles (14), triples (three), slugging percentage (.536) and on base percentage (.475) while junior infielder Jonathan Brandt hits a team-best five home runs.


On the mound, AUM sports a 5.34 ERA while tallying 236 strikeouts with 138 walks in 376.0 innings of work to date. Redshirt sophomore right-handed pitcher Hank Scott logs a team-best 71.1 innings with five victories over 12 starts with 50 strikeouts, the latter two tied with senior southpaw Garrett Deloney for the team lead. Freshman righty Sam Steigert making a team-high 19 mound appearances with three saves while Langley holds a team-low 1.16 ERA and junior right-handing Josh Flowers limits opponents to a .244 batting average.


About the Wolves

West Georgia (28-16, 14-13 GSC) continues its season-ending four-game homestand after a 6-2 victory over Emmanuel College on Wednesday, April 25.


The Wolves are hitting .315 (471-1494) as a team with a .444 slugging percentage coming from 90 doubles, eight triples and 29 home runs while tallying 307 RBI and 196 walks. Cade Marlowe paces eight UWG hitters with a batting average over .300 with a .373 mark while Brian Dansereau boasts 14 doubles and Price Peters hits eight home runs with 42 runs scored and 49 RBI. Nick Poskey draws a team-leading 22 walks with Marlowe stealing 21 bases.


On the mound, West Georgia has a team ERA of 4.44 with 299 strikeouts and 121 walks in 365.0 innings. 
Andres Fernandez logs a team-best 72.2 innings on the mound over 10 starts with 75 strikeouts while Wes Bucher boasts a team-leading seven victories over 18 appearances and Dalton Reagin records five saves.
