MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---Â Longtime AUM Baseball Head Coach Q.V. Lowe was one of eight inductees named to the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame class of 2020 that was announced on Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Lowe posted a record of 1,063-588-5 during his time at the helm of the AUM baseball program from 1987-2014, including 21 seasons with 30 or more wins and 13 years with more than 40 victories. He led AUM to three trips to the NAIA World Series finals and won six conference championships. The Warhawks suffered just two losing seasons, his first two years, during his time at the helm.

Under his leadership, 79 student-athletes earned all-conference accolades, 40 garnered all-area or all-region honors and 33 players were selected NAIA All-Americans. In addition, Lowe has coached more than 25 players who have played in some type of professional baseball league.
As a player, Lowe was a two-time All-SEC performer and 1967 ABCA All-American at Auburn University. Lowe turned in a 23-3 career record and 1.69 ERA in two seasons on The Plains. He still holds the program's career record for winning percentage (.885) and ERA.

Lowe went 15-1 with a 1.67 ERA and turned in 10 complete games during the 1967 season, leading Auburn to its first College World Series. The right-hander still holds the Tigers' College World Series records for appearances (three), wins (two) and innings pitched (14.2).

After being selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 19th round of the 1967 MLB Draft, Lowe became a coach and manager for the Cubs, New York Yankees and Montreal Expos organizations.
Lowe was inducted into the Auburn University Tiger Walk Hall of Fame in 1998 and was inducted into the AUM Hall of Fame and Alabama Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2005. In 2011, he became the first AUM head coach selected to the NAIA Hall of Fame, while he was also named the 2007 Alabama Baseball Coaches Association College Coach of the Year.
