MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Auburn Montgomery men's cross country runner has been named the Warhawk of the Week for the week of Sept. 9-15, it was announced Monday.
 
Komen, a freshman from Eldoret, Kenya, led all Warhawks and was the second fastest Gulf South Conference runner at the 2019 Mountain Dew Invite hosted by the University of Florida. Komen ran an 8k time of 27:20.62 to finish 50th overall this past Saturday, trailing only Valdosta State's Brishen House (27:18.99) among GSC competitors.
 
His efforts also helped the Warhawks secure a 10th place finish out of 31 teams, finishing just behind the University of South Florida and two spots ahead of regional foe Troy University. AUM was also the highest finishing GSC team at the event, besting VSU (13th) and West Florida (17th).
 
The Warhawks will next be in action on Saturday, Sept. 28, when they travel to conference rival Alabama Huntsville to take part in the UAH Charger Open. The men will run an 8k beginning at 9 a.m.
