Baseball Travels to Montevallo for First GSC Road Series of Season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Auburn Montgomery baseball team will take on in-state rival University of Montevallo in a three-game Gulf South Conference series, beginning with a single game at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28 and concluding with a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 1:00 p.m.

ABOUT THE WARHAWKS
AUM (4-9, 3-3 GSC) looks to get back to their winning ways after dropping three straight to Valdosta State last weekend in GSC action. 
 
Head Coach Marty Lovrich comes into the weekend needing just one more victory to reach 250 career wins as a head coach. The win will additionally be Lovrich's 165th with the Warhawks since taking over in 2014-2015. 
 
The Warhawks currently rank third in the GSC with 122 base hits on the season, and fifth with a team batting average of .280. Quinterrious Arrington (.400), Dalton Cobb (.362), Logan Nix (.350), Zach Feaster (.343), Matthew Zielonko (.333) Joseph Hartsfield (.333), Matthew Marfice (.313) and Hayden Friesen (.308) all sport a batting average over .300 to start the season.
 
Arrington leads the Gulf South with a pair of triples on the year, while Cobb leads the conference with 14 runs scored. Cobb additionally leads the Warhawks, while also ranking among the top 10 in the GSC, in hits (17), runs batted in (13) and home runs (3), and has hit safely in his last 11 games. 
 
On the mound for AUM, Micah Henderson has logged two of the Warhawks' four wins and has compiled a team-high 24.2 innings of work that ranks for sixth in the GSC. Troy Jones leads the squad with 17 batters struck out over 22 innings. 
 
Logan Coleman has made a team-high seven appearances while having struck out 14 batters and holding opponents to a .255 average. 
 
The Warhawks hold an all-time series advantage of 37-32 over Montevallo. The Falcons took two of three against AUM in their three-game set in 2019 in Montgomery, with the Warhawks winning game three on a walk-off base hit. 
 
ABOUT THE FALCONS
Montevallo heads into the weekend losers of their last three, including a 9-1 loss at Columbus State their last time out on Wednesday, Feb. 26. The Falcons dropped two of three at West Georgia in their most recent GSC series last weekend. 
 
The Falcons come in batting .239 as a team, led by Khalid Collymore's .375 batting average. Riley Cain leads Montevallo with three home runs and shares the GSC lead with Cobb with 14 runs scored, while Davis Lott has driven in a team-best 13 runs.
 
Senior right-hander Chandler Ingram has notched a team-high three victories for Montevallo and currently ranks fourth among qualified pitchers in the GSC with a 1.62 ERA, while also holding opponents to just a .143 batting average.  Starting pitcher Gus Cunningham has struck out a team-high 16 batters over 19 innings of labor, to go along with a 4.26 ERA and an opponent batting average of .243.
