MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery men's basketball program totaled 93 wins during the 2010s and has chosen five players to represent the all-decade team.
The men's basketball program at AUM made two appearances in the Southern State Athletic Conference playoffs before transitioning to NCAA DII status. In their first year eligible for postseason play, the Warhawks earned the No. 7 seed in the Gulf South Conference championships.
Darrion Taylor was a pivotal contributor to the first GSC playoff team and he has been selected as the Player of The Decade. Taylor (2016-20) became the 19
th member of the 1,000-point club and finished his illustrious career with 1,310 points, which ranks sixth in AUM history.
Taylor was a lethal shooter from 3-point range, finishing his career with 248 3-pointers. The point guard was also one of the best defenders in program history, finishing ninth all-time in steals with 131.
Desmond DeRamus joins Taylor on the all-decade team as the second guard on the squad. DeRamus played for the Orange & Black in 2015-18 and aided the program in its transition to NCAA DII status.
DeRamus, a member of the 1,000-point club, netted 1,093 points in his career while grabbing 417 rebounds. Like Taylor, DeRamus excelled defensively as well, recording 161 takeaways in his career, good for fifth all-time.
LeShaun Murphy (2013-15) joins the all-decade team alongside Taylor and DeRamus. Murphy played two seasons wearing the Orange & Black and was an all-around threat on the court. He averaged 4.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 13.8 points for his career.
Reggie Brown played one season for the Warhawks in 2014-15 and made a strong first impression. Brown averaged 11.2 points per game in 29 contests in 2014-15 and compiled 8.5 rebounds a night. AUM won 15 games that season and made an appearance in the SSAC conference tournament but fell in the first round to Belhaven University 63-71.
Carlos Bell (2018-20) concludes the five members of the all-decade team as the second forward to crack the five best to wear the Orange & Black in the 2010s. Bell was a member of the first GSC postseason team and completed two seasons for the Warhawks.
Bell got it done on both ends of the court, averaging almost 15 points a game while collecting 6.3 rebounds per contest. Bell came alive once the calendar hit 2020, as he netted six 20-point games, including a 32-point performance against West Florida.
