Men's Soccer Notches No. 8 Preseason Top 25 Ranking

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery men's soccer team checked in at No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Top 25 Coaches Poll.

The Warhawks, who turned in an 11-5-4 overall record last season, fought their way to the NCAA Division II "Elite Eight" last season. The 11 wins marked the team's highest win total since the 2014 campaign.

AUM posted a 7-2-2 mark in Gulf South Conference play and edged the University of West Alabama in the GSC tournament quarterfinal to earn a berth in the semifinal. The Warhawks then made the program's debut in the NCAA postseason and promptly defeated No. 9 Tampa to reach the NCAA "Sweet 16".

The Warhawks advanced to play a scoreless 110 minutes of soccer against No. 1 Young Harris College before a dramatic victory 5-4 on penalty kicks pushed the squad to the "Elite Eight."

AUM went 3-1-1 against Top 25 teams last season and closed the year with a No. 8 national ranking in the United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 poll.
