GREENWOOD, Ind. - Four AUM men's soccer student-athletes were named to the Academic All-Region team announced by the College Sports Communications on Wednesday.
William Blake,
Adam Hanson,
Yanis Lasri and
Carlo Russo were among a group of 30 recipients from the Gulf South Conference to receive the special recognition.
Blake is a graduate student majoring in Entrepreneurship who carries a 3.5 grade points average. The goalkeeper from Mobile, Alabama earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a 3.77 GPA. He has appeared in 15 games and compiled an 8-2-4 overall record with a 1.15 goals against average and six shutouts.
Hanson has a 3.64 GPA in kinesiology. The senior from Woodbridge, England started in all 20 games and collected two goals, four assists and a pair of game-winning strikes from his midfield spot. He finished second on the team with 34 shots and 13 shots on goal. He earned Second Team All-Region and All-GSC honors.
Lasri was a solid midfielder for the Warhawks who has compiled a 3.77 GPA in Management. He saw action in all 20 games with 19 starts and was third on the team with 1,534 minutes played while scoring three goals, including one against Coker in the NCAA Second Round.
Russo is a defender from Naples, Italy who has a 3.85 GPA in Psychology. He had three goals and two assists while playing in 20 games with 14 starts. He also had the game-winner against Trevecca Nazarene in the GSC Tournament when he scored twice.
