THIS WEEK IN AUM ATHLETICS (FEBRUARY 26 - MARCH 3)

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

  • The Warhawks travel to the University of Montevallo in the final regular season game of the season on Saturday, March 2 at 2 p.m.
  • AUM has already clinched a Super Tuesday home game as a top-four seed in the upcoming GSC tournament. The Warhawks play an opponent to be determined on Tuesday, March 5 at 5:30 p.m.
  • Allasha Dudley moved into second in the GSC in scoring at 17.2 points per game. She also ranks second in the made three-point field goals with 66, and ranks third in made three-point field goals per game (2.4).

MEN'S BASKETBALL

  • AUM closes out the 2023-2024 season on Saturday, March 2 at 4 p.m. in Montevallo, Alabama against the University of Montevallo. 
  • Warhawk seniors combined to score 82 of the 97 points they posted in the 100-97 loss to Valdosta State University.
  • Jalen Gaston poured in 33 points in a Senior Day loss, and Joe Lanzi added 26 points and knocked down seven three-pointers on the evening.

  • After falling in game one, the Warhawks swept the doubleheader from RV Mississippi College 8-7 and 5-3 in comeback fashion.
  • The Warhawks improved to 5-3 this season against teams receiving votes in the NCBWA Top 25 poll.
  • Cooper Doughman (3) and Kasey Clark (2) hit home runs against the Choctaws, and Grant Hickman and Payte Williams earned wins on the mound. Lucas Baggett registered a pair of saves out of the bullpen for AUM.
  • The Warhawks visit Albany State University on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. CT in midweek action and then host the University of West Alabama in conference play. The two teams play game one on Friday, March 1 before a doubleheader on Saturday, March 2 at Q.V. Lowe Field.

  • The men's and women's tennis teams are each fresh off of a 2-1 weekend, as both squads collected wins over Tuskegee University and Spring Hill College before falling against the University of North Georgia.
  • Both teams hit the road to Tyler, Texas to take on Cameron University (March 1), Midwestern State University (March 2), and UT-Tyler (March 3).

  • The Warhawks swept a doubleheader against the No. 6-ranked Mississippi College Choctaws to clinch a series win in Gulf South Conference play.
  • AUM won game one 12-1 in five innings with help from a Kat Fallen grand slam, and the Warhawks took care of business 10-2 in five innings in game two of the doubleheader with help from a Gia Martin three-run homer.
  • The Warhawks host Georgia Southwestern State in doubleheader action on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. before welcoming the University of West Alabama for a three-game GSC weekend.
