INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- For the first time in school history, the Auburn University at Montgomery baseball team is under consideration for the NCAA South Region tournament, as the Warhawks were mentioned when the NCAA released its first set of region rankings on Wednesday, April 24.
The initial list of rankings, released in alphabetical order, is a list of 10 teams that are under consideration to advance to the NCAA South Region tournament, to be held May 16-19. There will be two more sets of rankings released by the NCAA on May 1 and May 8, with the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday, May 12 at 9 p.m. CT.
AUM has already piled up an impressive list of accolades and recognition under the direction of first-year head coach
Franklin Bush. The Warhawks boast 29 wins thus far this season, which is the second-highest win total for the program since 2017. AUM has also been featured in the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) poll for four straight weeks, including the highest ranking of the school's NCAA Division II era in this week's poll (No. 21). Additionally, the Warhawks have received votes in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) national poll in back-to-back weeks.
The black and orange also ranked No. 4 in the NCBWA's South Region poll for the second straight week and have been featured in 10 straight NCBWA regional polls dating back to February 20, 2024. The Warhawks are 16-4 in their last 20 games and close out the GSC regular season against in-state rival the University of Montevallo this weekend in Montevallo, Ala.
