This Week in AUM Athletics: JAN. 27 - FEB. 3

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Each week, the Auburn University at Montgomery Office of Athletics Communications previews the upcoming week with “This Week in AUM Athletics.” We've got a busy week with seven home events as Basketball continues conference play and baseball opens the season at home this weekend.

  • AUM women's basketball swept the action last week and improved to 6-7 in conference play.
  • They will host Delta State and Mississippi College this week.
  • Danielle Luckey recorded her seventh double-double of the season after a 16 point and 18 rebound performance.
  • Delta State is 7-6 in conference play so far and just three spots ahead of AUM.
  • Mississippi College is 6-7 in GSC play.
  • The Warhawks dropped both games last week and fell to 5-8 in GSC play.
  • AUM will host Delta State Thursday and Mississippi College Saturday.
  • Pual Lanzi scored a career-high, 31 points last week against Trevecca.
  • Delta State is 5-8 in conference play as well coming into Montgomery.
  • Mississippi College stands at the bottom of the league at 3-10 so far in league play.
  • AUM baseball starts off the season at home this weekend with a three-game series with Young Harris starting on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT.
  • The Warhawks were selected fourth in the GSC preseason poll.
  • Zach Dew and Ryan Slaten Slaten were selected to the preseason All-GSC team.
  • Following a record-setting season in 2024 in which the team established a Division II record 32 victories, earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament and finished second in the GSC regular season
  • In addition to the 14 returners, AUM also welcome 25 newcomers for the 2025 campaign.
  • AUM softball travels to Gulf Shores to open the season in the Gulf Shores Invitational starting on Friday with a doubleheader.
  • Ranked #6 nationally in NFCA preseason top-25.
  • The Warhawks were selected third in the GSC preseason poll with four first-place votes.
  • Chloe Baynes and Haley Ann Frank were named preseason All-GSC.
  • Baynes, a First-Team All-GSC, NFCA All-South Region Team and NFCA All-American selection last year, finished 2024 leading the GSC in batting average at .477, hits at 103 and runs at 77.
  • Frank,  earned second-team all-conference accolades after she tallied the second most hits in the GSC a year ago with 83 while batting .426.
  • Following a record-setting season in 2024
  • The Warhawks finished the 2024 season at 47-14 and a 23-7 record in Gulf South Conference action. They won the GSC Championship, the NCAA South Regional and a NCAA Super Regional to go on and make an appearance in the World Series. 
  • Auburn Montgomery's 2025 schedule features six teams that are in the top 25 poll
  • Tennis will play another exhibition before starting the season on Friday.
  • Wednesday's exhibition is at Alabama State for both the men's and women's teams.
  • The match at Columbus State will official open the season for the Warhawks men's team on Friday.
  • The women's tennis team is ranked at #10.
  • They will open the season on Feb. 5 at West Alabama.
