BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference announced its men's soccer weekly awards Tuesday, with No. 11 Auburn University at Montgomery senior Alan De Paula earning Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance against Lee on Saturday.
 
GSC Defender of the Week: Alan De Paula
De Paula played a key role in AUM's 1-0 victory over Lee on Saturday in the Warhawks' GSC opener. The senior defender played all 90 minutes while helping the Warhawks secure a clean sheet against the Flames.
 
De Paula also provided the game's decisive moment, scoring the game-winning goal in the 57^th minute to give AUM the conference-opening victory. The goal marked his first of the season.
 
The honor marks his first GSC weekly award of the season for De Paula, who was named to the All-GSC Preseason Team prior to the 2026 season.
 
The Warhawks improved to 4-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in GSC play with the victory.
