MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Auburn University at Montgomery women's basketball interim head coach
Steve Kenner has announced Muneca Oliver as the new assistant women's basketball coach at AUM after having recently served as a cyber security/network defense analyst in the United States Air Force.
"I am super excited to hire Muneca and to have her as a member of our program," said head coach Kenner. "She's extremely passionate and loyal and understands what it takes to excel as a student-athlete at AUM."
Oliver's career accomplishments include a Navy/Marine Corps achievement medal for successfully merging two squadrons while handling all telecommunications equipment with no work time or equipment loss. She also maintained a $50,000 a year budget for a command while managing a $1.1 million budget for computer assets for a squadron.
"I am excited about the opportunity to be a part of the AUM family," said Oliver. "I'm blessed to mentor future leaders."
Oliver began her professional career as an IT specialist at Birmingham-Southern College in 2004. After spending three years in Birmingham, Oliver transitioned to the United States Navy, where she served as an information systems technician from 2008-2011.
After serving as an information security manager while ensuring quality customer service vital to the Navy's operations, Oliver transitioned to Citi Financial and worked as a systems administrator and an information security analyst from 2011-2012.
Her most recent stint came with the United States Air Force as a cyber security and defense analyst. Her duties included immediately identifying actions needed for given IP addresses while performing database queries and submitting threats against offending IP addresses.
