BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference has announced its weekly men's soccer award winners, with Auburn University at Montgomery's junior defender Alan De Paula and freshman midfielder Noah Fernandes earning recognition following the Warhawks' 4-0 victory over Montevallo. De Paula was named GSC Defensive Player of the Week, while Fernandes claimed GSC Freshman of the Week honors.
 
DE PAULA'S DEFENSE
De Paula anchored the Warhawks' back line in the 4-0 victory over the Falcons last week, helping AUM record its fifth shutout of the season. The junior etched 74 minutes, limiting Montevallo to just two shots on goal while also contributing offensively with a goal in the 80th minute. His all-around effort earned him his first GSC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
 
ALAN'S ANCHOR
De Paula has started 11 of AUM's 12 matches this season, serving as a steady anchor on the Warhawk back line. The junior defender has contributed three goals and six points on 13 shots while leading a defensive unit that has produced five shutouts and held opponents to one goal or fewer in seven matches.



FERNANDES FINDING THE NET
Fernandes played a key role in the Warhawks' 4-0 victory over Montevallo, scoring twice on three shots in 73 minutes of action. The freshman midfielder struck early in the second minute and added another goal in the 69th to cap a dominant performance. His effort earned him his first GSC Freshman of the Week honors.
 
FERNANDES AS A FRESHMAN
Fernandes has played in all 12 matches this season, emerging as a steady offensive presence for the Warhawks. He has tallied five goals, three assists, and 13 points on 26 shots, with his two scores against Montevallo marking his first career multi-goal performance and solidifying his role as one of AUM's key offensive contributors.

De Paula, Fernandes, and the rest of the Warhawks return to action on Friday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. when they face the Union Bulldogs in Jackson, Tenn.
