No. 3 Warhawks Set to Host No. 6 Montevallo in GSC Quarterfinal Matchup

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – After defeating the Statesmen on Sunday, securing their spot in Gulf South Conference play, the third-seed Auburn University at Montgomery men's soccer team will challenge the sixth-seed Montevallo Falcons in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Gulf South Conference Championship.

LAST TIME OUT
Sunday the Warhawks defeated the Delta State Statesmen as they concluded their regular season play. This victory brought the Statesmen's season to an end, while AUM earned their spot as the third-seed in the 2025 GSC Championship. 

GULF SOUTH CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT
The Warhawks have made their presence known in the GSC, returning to the championship the past four years and earning the GSC Champion title last year.

A LOOK AT THE WARHAWKS
  • The Warhawks wrapped up their regular season with a 9-4-3 record, which includes shutout victories against Wingate, Carson-Newman, Trevecca Nazarene, Spring Hill, Montevallo, and Union.  
  • The team has totaled 36 goals against their opponents, averaging two goals a game.
  • Benjamin Hoffmann leads the team with eight goals on the season, earning a spot on the GSC leaderboard as seventh in total goals scored. 
  • Noah Fernandes has been a crucial player for the Warhawks, scoring seven goals on the season while aiding his teammates with six assists, tying him for fourth in GSC assists. Fernandes is also tied for first in the GSC with four game winning goals. 
  • Robiston Lukau has made a statement for the Warhawks with five assists on the season, ranking him seventh in the conference for number of assists.

GULF SOUTH CONFERENCE WEEKLY AWARDS
Noah Fernandes earned his first GSC Freshman of the Week award on Oct. 21 after registering two goals in the team's 4-0 victory over Montevallo. On Oct. 28, he doubled up on his awards earning Freshman of the Week and Player of Week after helping AUM go 2-0 to clinch a postseason spot.

Alan De Paula earned Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 21 after his defensive efforts helped the Warhawks secure a clean sheet against Montevallo, allowing only two shots on goal. He also scored a goal that game, leading AUM to a 4-0 shutout against Montevallo. 

Matteo Maccagni received back-to-back Goalkeeper of the Week honors on Sep. 23 and Sep. 30 after recording the first and second clean sheet of his collegiate career.


SUNDAY'S ACTION
