MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Senior forward Samya Brooks of the Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks women's basketball team has been named Warhawk of the Week, as announced by the AUM Athletics Department on Tuesday afternoon.Â
Brooks' Week Â
Brooks delivered a strong week for the Warhawks in two home games at the AUM Athletics Complex. She averaged 14.0 points and 4.0 rebounds across two starts. In Thursday's matchup against Lee, the senior logged 32 minutes and led the team with 15 points, going 5-for-16 (31.3%) from the field while knocking down 5-of-6 free throws (83.3%). She also added five rebounds and a steal in the contest.Â
Brooks followed that performance with another solid outing in Saturday afternoon's game against Trevecca Nazarene, finishing with 13 points in just under 30 minutes of action. She shot 4-for-10 from the floor (40.0%) and again went 5-of-6 at the free-throw line (83.3%), while collecting three rebounds. Over the two games, Brooks shot 9-for-26 from the field (34.6%) and 10-for-12 from the line (83.3%), continuing to provide a steady offensive presence for the Warhawks.Â
Season Snapshot Â
Brooks has been a consistent force for the Warhawks throughout season, starting all 18 games and averaging 13.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. The senior forward is shooting 39.3% from the field (96-for-244) and an impressive 87.3% from the free-throw line (62-for-71).Â
Her best performance of the season came on January 15 at West Florida, where she poured in a season-high 24 points, shooting 9-for-18 (50.0%) from the floor, while also grabbing 11 rebounds for a double-double. She logged a season-high 36 minutes two days later at Valdosta State and again recorded 11 rebounds, showcasing her ability to stay impactful on both ends of the floor.Â
Brooks has reached double figures in scoring 14 times this season, including four games with 20 or more points, and has pulled down nine or more rebounds in three different contests. Â
Through 538 total minutes, Brooks has totaled 256 points, 90 rebounds, 17 assists, and 13 steals, continuing to serve as a steady, dependable presence for the Warhawks in her senior campaign.Â
