CARROLLTON, Ga. –The Auburn Montgomery men's cross country team posted a second-place finish on Saturday, Oct. 10 in the Coach Gary Wilson Invitational, highlighted by a pair of top-five finishes from seniors Jacob Russell Lister (second) and Micah Britton (fourth).
 
Lister's time of 26:12.16 marked for a personal AUM record, earning him second place on the day. The senior finished just five seconds off of the 10th-fastest 8K time in program history.   
 
Britton's time of 26:34.94 earned him fourth place.
 
Four other Warhawks cracked the top 15, helping set up the Orange and Black's average time of 27:31.82. Denis Komen finished 12th with a time of 28:14.06, Chance Cofield finished 13th with a time od 28:18.87, Thomas Wolfe finished 14th with a time of 28:19.11, and Andrew Mingus finished 15th with a time of 28:19.90.
 
Hamza Abusammour cracked the top 25 with a 22nd-place finish at 29:15.28, Drake Patton finished 33rd with a time of 30:01.22, Jay Hughes finished 37th with a time of 30:28.65, Jackson Ausley finished 46th with a time of 32:01.74, and Joshua Jenkins finished 47th with a time of 32:32.80.
 
"Overall, 2020 has just been an odd year," Head Coach Ryan Thompson said. "I'm still trying to wrap my head around racing during a pandemic, and always having to wonder if someone will be held out of an upcoming race because of a positive test."
 
Alabama-Huntsville finished first, with an average time of 27:18.36. Solomon Komen from West Georgia edged out Lister for first place among individuals with a time of 26:05.07.
 
The men's cross country team will be back on action on Friday, Oct. 16 at the Blazer Classic, hosted by UAB.
