NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery men's cross country team sits eighth in the sixth week of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South Region Poll.
The Warhawks raced to a fifth-place finish at the 2023 GSC Championships, led by
Basil Koech's third-fastest 8K time in school history. Koech captured Freshman of the Year honors, a first in program history, and was named Second Team All-GSC thanks to his 15th-place finish and time of 24:54.20.
Koech now has the first, third, fourth, and ninth fastest 8K times in school history. Freshman
Joshua Hill also added a personal best time of 27:19.40.
Patrick Pigg finished less than three seconds off his collegiate-best 8K time,
Sam Leslie nearly re-set his collegiate-best time as he finished two-tenths of a second off his previous personal record, and
Jay Hughes also finished just three-tenths of a second from his top collegiate time at this year's conference race.
AUM returns to the course on Saturday, November 4 in Montevallo, Alabama at the 2023 NCAA South Region Championships, hosted by the University of Montevallo.
