HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery men's cross country team raced to 22nd place finish at the 2024 Southern Showcase at John Hunt Park on Friday.
The Warhawks scored 686 points which was the fifth-highest total among Division II schools. The field featured 468 runners from 47 teams on the 8k course, which will also host this year's NCAA Division II South Regional Championships on November 9.

SCORING FIVE
- Sophomore Dalton Benefield finished 136th with a time of 25:53.45 as the team's top individual scorer, totaling 104 points.
- Freshman Seth Grogan placed 164th overall in 26:13.50.
- Sophomore Grant Casey and senior Connor Stoots were right on each other's pace, crossing in 26:34.01 and 26:44.66, respectively.
- Senior Brady Thomas was the fifth scorer foe AUM, posting a time of 27:04.46
- Freshman Brexton Hathaway and senior Mark Foster were the sixth and seventh runners to cross the line.
THOMPSON'S REACTION
"We weren't at full strength with a few people out but this gave us a starting point and I was pleased with their effort," said head coach Ryan Thompson.
UP NEXT
The Warhawks return to the course on Saturday, Oct. 5 as they travel to Louisville, Ky. to race in the the Live In Lou Classic. The race will be held at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.
