CLINTON, Miss. – The AUM men's cross country team finished in fifth place at the Gulf South Conference Championships at Choctaw Trails on Saturday.
The Warhawks scored 167 points which their second-highest place at the conference meet. They were one of four teams to have all five scorers in the top 50 of the 8k race.
Sophomore
Dalton Benefield was the top finisher, crossing the line in 25:10.0 for 26th place. His time was a minute faster than at last year's GSC race.

Mikey Banks scored 35 points with his run of 25:44.2
Senior
Connor Stoots and freshman
Seth Grogan ran nearly identical races, with Stoots crossing in 26:06.08 and Grogan at 26:09.0. Freshman
Brexton Hathaway was the final scorer for AUM, completing the course in 26:30.9 for 43 points.
Ninth-ranked Lee won its third-consecutive GSC title with a score of 23 points, just ahead of 14th-ranked Alabama Huntsville with 53. UAH's Sam Wilhelm defended his individual crown by running a 23:52.90
AUM will now turn its attention to preparing for the NCAA South Region Championship in two weeks in Huntsville, Alabama. The meet will be Saturday, Nov. 9 at John Hunt Park.
