Eduardo “Gus” Garibaldi competed for the Auburn University at Montgomery men’s tennis team from 1983-86, leading the squad to four consecutive NAIA District 27 championships and a 77-12 record during his career with the program. During his final three seasons, Garibaldi earned First-Team All-American honors from the NAIA and the International Tennis Association (ITA) in both singles and doubles. He played the majority of his career as the No. 2 singles player and a member of the No. 1 doubles team, where he partnered with fellow AUM Hall of Fame member Jeff Skeldon to form one of the nation’s top doubles tandems. Following his playing career with the Senators, Garibaldi served as an assistant coach with the AUM men’s tennis program from 1992-94. While on the coaching staff, he helped the team to a pair of District 27 championships and a NAIA runner-up finish in 1993.
