Taian Souza anchored the men’s soccer back line from 2010-13, helping the team to a 52-25-10 record during his tenure. During his career, he recorded seven goals from his defender position, including the game-winning goal with just 16 seconds remaining in in the 2012 Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament Championship match. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s NAIA Player of the Year as a senior, Souza led the program to a pair of NAIA Tournament appearances, highlighted by a national runner-up finish in 2013. He earned First-Team All-American honors from both the NAIA and NSCAA following his senior season and was tabbed the SSAC Defensive Player of the Year. A team captain in 2012 and 2013, Souza also earned NAIA Scholar Athlete honors his final two seasons and was a three-time member of the SSAC All-Academic Team.
