Dr. Guin A. Nance served as Auburn University at Montgomery Chancellor from 2000-06. During her tenure as Chancellor, the Senators won seven National Championships and finished national runner-up on two additional occasions. Nance was also instrumental in hiring AUM’s first full-time Athletics Director, helping steer the trajectory of the university to its current NCAA Division II status. Nance came to AUM in 1971 and left a 35-year legacy of service to the institution. During her tenure at AUM, she served as English professor, the first Chair of the Division of Liberal Arts (1973-75), the first Dean of the School of Liberal Arts (1975-1981), Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs (1981-95) and Chancellor. She has an endowed scholarship in her name in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.
