Junior Kelley was selected a two-time NAIA First-Team All-American for the Auburn University at Montgomery baseball team. In his two seasons with the program, Kelley helped the team to consecutive postseason appearances, including a trip to the NAIA World Series during his junior campaign. Individually, Kelley led the NAIA in hits with 109 as a junior, while earning Southern States Athletic Conference and Region Player of the Year honors as a senior. He hit .461 in his final season, a mark which at the time of his induction was tied for the best in school history. He was also the school-record holder for career batting average at .439 and has the longest hitting streak at 39 games. For his career, he ranked tied for second in hits (214), third in doubles (40) and fifth in runs batted in (132). He is also the only Senator to post two 100-hit seasons during his career.
