Jerome Liggett was not only a member of the first Auburn University at Montgomery men's basketball team, but also a key player on the first AUM athletic team to win a conference championship. The Senators' men's basketball team captured the Southern States Conference Championship in 1976-1977, just their second year of existence.  While playing in 117 games during his four-year career at AUM, Liggett compiled some very impressive statistics. His 17 points-per-game career average currently ranks him sixth on the all-time list. He is third on the career rebounding list with 702, and his 658 field goals rank him second on that list. He became the first AUM athlete to be named to an All-American team when he was selected as an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American in 1975-1976.
